Besides programming our nationally famous pantomime at Christmas which has delighted families for generations, we host shows all year round suitable for all the family.
We want your visit to be the best it possibly can be so we work hard to be family friendly at Oldham Coliseum Theatre.
Here’s some information to help you plan for getting to the theatre.
Access into the theatre building is via four steps, although there is a side door just up Fairbottom Street – the street on which we’re located – which is on a flat surface. Just ring the doorbell and someone from our Box Office or Front of House teams will meet you.
If you or a member of your party is disabled, you can find helpful information about your visit here.
We’re a small building, and, although there’s no purpose built space to park your buggy or pram, our staff will be only too happy to find somewhere safe for you to store it.
We’ve got baby change facilities in the Ladies’ toilets in the Stalls Bar, and in the Unisex Accessible toilet in the Education Suite, just off the Stalls Bar. Both are on the ground floor.
Our Stalls Bar, on the ground floor, and our Circle Bar, on the first floor, serve fruit juices and cordials. A range of soft drinks and confectionary can be purchased at our kiosks on the ground floor and circle level. Ice creams can be bought during the interval.
Our staff and Customer Experience volunteers are here to help you: ask at Box Office for any help you need. We want you and your family enjoy your visit to the Coliseum.
You know your family best, so although we will advise about age suitability for our theatre shows, this is for guidance only. We will tell you if there is content that some families might find more challenging. If you need any information, please contact Box Office or check on our website.
Most of our family shows have a family ticket available, and we try to make that deal as flexible as possible to accommodate the family in the 21st century. We are conscious that Christmas, in particular, is an expensive time of year for many families so we serve refreshments at accessible prices, our website gives you information about Oldham’s various restaurants and cafes where you can eat as a family (many have special theatre offers) and where free or low cost parking is available. Oldham Coliseum Theatre is a registered charity so keeping prices affordable for our audiences is a very important consideration for us.
If you need information before your visit check out our Access page which gives information on making your booking, getting here and access in and around the building. There is also information on special interpreted performances for Disabled people like our Infrared Assisted Listening System for Deaf audiences, the dates of our special performances such as British Sign Language Interpreted and Captioned performances for Deaf audiences, and details of our Relaxed Performances for people with sensory or communication needs. We have Audio Described performances for Blind audiences including touch tours. Although our building was built in 1887, with no lift, we always go the extra mile for our audiences. If you have any Access needs or feedback on our services, please contact our Box Office on 0161 624 2829 or boxoffice@coliseum.org.uk
